My devotion stemmed from my mom's love of horses. I have been riding since I could walk, and the fact that my mom knew everything about horses really helped my passion grow.
Copy Quote View & ShareMy aunt and uncle would come over when my mom was making this, or we would go over there when they were making that. That's what food is.
Copy Quote View & ShareEven when I was modelling, I never had a mom sitting on my head and a bunch of people waiting on me. I've always been independent. I'll do my thing and go.
Copy Quote View & ShareAfter my mom died, there was so much written about her fashion and her style and all that, and I felt that one of the most important parts of her was missing, her real intellectual curiosity.
Copy Quote View & ShareHaving children is a huge responsibility, and I just don't want to hand them off to a nanny or my mom to take care of them.
Copy Quote View & ShareMy mom was a ventriloquist and she always was throwing her voice. For ten years I thought the dog was telling me to kill my father.
Copy Quote View & ShareMy sister was such a young mom (as was my mom), and she loved the help that I was more than willing to give.
Copy Quote View & ShareI've been painting and drawing fish since I was very young. My mom found old pictures I did when I was around 6 or 7 of all these sharks and scuba diver looking back, a big ship, throwing a harpoon. There was already a message within what I saw.
Copy Quote View & ShareMy love of lip gloss comes from my mom, who always wore it - and from watching 'Charlie's Angels.'
Copy Quote View & ShareI can't say for sure where I was headed the first time my mom put a blue blazer on me. Church, probably. West Side Presbyterian in Ridgewood, New Jersey, specifically, where my blazer was paired with a clip-on tie and a pair of khakis for a Sunday morning with my fellow congregants.
Copy Quote View & ShareI was 11 and watching soap operas with my mom, and I thought it would be cool to be an actor. I thought soap operas was going to be the dream at the time - it's obviously now not the dream, but I think soap operas are really cool. Maybe I'll go back to that.
Copy Quote View & ShareI had amazing intellectual privilege as a kid. My mom taught me to read when I was two or three. When I was five, I read and wrote well enough to do my nine-year older brother's homework in exchange for chocolate or cigarettes. By the time I was 10, I was reading Orwell, Tolstoy's 'War and Peace,' and the Koran. I was reading comic books, too.
Copy Quote View & ShareMy father was Catholic, my mom Baptist, so we were raised Baptist but had a lot of Catholic upbringing: fish on Fridays, no birth control.

Copy Quote View & ShareI grew up in Beijing and Beijing roast duck is my favorite. My mom makes it every year for Christmas Eve. How crispy the skin is is how good a duck restaurant is.
Copy Quote View & ShareI've struggled a lot in my life with feeling like a failure. I lived in a 'prison of perfectionism,' holding myself to a standard I couldn't possibly live up to. Then I became a mom, and all of a sudden, there arose even more opportunities for failure.
Copy Quote View & ShareI'll tell you what - it's not a choice until you're open enough to experience both male and female sexuality. Until you've tasted the food, you don't know whether you'll like it or not, as my mom always said.
Copy Quote View & ShareThere came a point when I called my mom, and I was like, 'I need to come home. I'm not OK. I'm not good right now. My mental health isn't good.'
Copy Quote View & ShareMy mom got me into some commercials, and I basically, I guess, just got out of my shell I was in at the time because I can't remember. I've just been blessed ever since.
